Elevating Awareness
In April – May 2021, Andrew Hughes, a high-altitude mountaineer and endurance athlete based out of Seattle, Washington, will be attempting the seldom accomplished 8000M+ “double” in Nepal. First climbing Mt. Everest and completing the Seven Summits, he will then reach the summit of Lhotse within 24 hours, the 4th highest mountain in the world.
Andrew will share this remarkable achievement with only 40 people in history.
Andrew’s expedition is fueled by his commitment to sustainability, conservationism and combatting climate change. Throughout his journey, he will be raising awareness for Human Rights Watch’s work on the Environment and Human Rights.
Human Rights Watch exposes the human cost of climate change. We advance urgently needed measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect vulnerable populations so that all people can enjoy safer, healthier lives. To sustain this critical work, we are looking to raise $29,032 in honor of the summit height of Andrew’s climb.
